Spring 2010 HLS agreements in pipeline

2010 is shaping up as a very busy year for the Wetland Project as several new farm HLS agreements are due to start this spring and habitat restoration works including a major phase of water level sluice installations are scheduled for late summer and autumn, as soon as nesting birds have finished.
With agreements as far apart now as Potter Brompton and Flotmanby the area of wet grassland stewardship is set to grow even further.
March and April the Project hopes to see two sizeable new agreements, one at Staxton and Willerby Carr area (for Manor Farm, Staxton), and another at Lebberston and Flotmanby Carrs (Lingholm Farm). Between these two schemes, a further 69ha of wetland habitats are to be rehabilitated or created from arable fields. (the area of around 100 football pitches) Work will begin on these in the autumn.
